Splatterpainting
Painting/collage:
Splatterpainting: (MESSY FOR ALL) This is our number one favorite project to do at any party. This is great for ALL ages. Please note that we use acrylic paint and artists will go home with “art tattoos” (which means splatters of paint everywhere - in hair, skin, clothes, shoes) so please where clothes that can get messy! We do have aprons and a few sets of coveralls. Parents of toddlers will get messy as well. Ages 6 and up will not need help. But younger ages will have parents standing in the “splatter zone” and will get messy! Acrylic paint stains. Please tell guests to wear clothes that can get stained from head to toe! This is NOT a fancy dress up party!
Friendship Bouquet
Painted paper and cavas collage.
Friendship bouquet: We will begin by a fun process painting of papers learning texture techniques. As those dry we paint on a canvas for our background learning paint mixing an brush techniques. Then we learn simple flower designs to add to our papers to make one for each artist at the table. We cut and glue our bouquet to our canvas for a beautiful blooming arrangement to remember each of our friends.
Painting Gourds: Choose gourds instead of a canvas! We can do any painting project on these everlasting sculptures!
Jar of hearts: each person paints and adds texture to a large paper, then cuts out as many hearts as there are people in their party. We will paint a jar on a canvas. Then we will assemble to mixture of hearts on our jars.
Jar of Stars: we will paint a canvas with a galaxy background and then each person will paint a textured paper to then create a multiple of stars. Each person will give one of their stars to everyone in the party and we will then glue the stars in our galaxy. (You can choose if you want to put them in a jar or not:)
Painting a canvas (custom theme)
(these are just suggested idea, please let me know if you have a specific idea or theme you’d like to create with your party!)
YOUR THEME! We can do anything theme painting you want, just let us know and we will make it happen! Favorites we have done: Sea turtle, animals in party hats, dinosaurs, jar of fireflies like vangogh, dolphin silhouette against a sunset sky, ladybugs in jars, cat portraits.
“The dot”. We will read the short story about the dot and make a wonderful process painting based on dots. Heather will guide you through simple steps and the many interpretations and layers to creating a beautiful abstract painting.
_______
Embroidery Project
Hand Sewing:
Let’s stitch a patch! Students will design a simple drawing to then recreate with stitches on a piece of felt. They will learn the basics of embroidery and hand stitching. Then we will cut it out of the felt to take home and then you can sew or glue on your favorite jeans, jacket, bag or anything you want!
Embroidery on a hoop and take it home and it is already framed. Theme of your choice. Artists can stitch whatever they like or I can have a pre-drawn picture in a theme of the Birthday artist’s choice. Funny phrases are popular with adults!
Button flowers: we will cut simple felt pieces and then sew on with buttons as the centers of our flower. We will then learn simple running stitches to make stems and then add leaves. You can keep in the embroidery hoop or take it out to put in a frame, or use it in another sewing project.
Funny quotes: what makes you laugh or motivates you? Let’s learn how to do a basic back stitch after we transfer your quote to fabric with an embroidery hoop. This is fun to do with friends as you laugh and learn a new skill. Keep your design in your hoop as a frame to hang, or remove to add to a traditional frame or use in a sewing project.
_______
Tie dye: Bring your own white fabric items (shirt, pants, socks, bandanas, bags, etc.) to tie dye. Students will learn about colors and how they mix as well as how to twist or tie to make different designs. Students will then take home their shirts to sit for 24 hours. Then will get instructions on how to rinse and wash their creations at home.

Mosaics (choose between stepping stones, clay pot, picture frame or glass votives) and many more suggestions are welcome if you have seen something you’d like to try!
