New pricing: $30 PER CLASS
Please sign up AT LEAST a week in advance. If we do not get enough enrollment for a class, a week prior, we will cancel the class. Sign up for as many dates as you can to ensure your spot. Do not wait until the last minute as this is a very popular class. We may add more Intro classes if we have dates with no sign ups.
We have lots of levels of students who have been with us for awhile and some new students. If you see a project that you have already done, it might be fun to do it again to brush up on your skills to see if you can improve on your past knowledge. Repetition equals GROWTH and IMPROVEMENT! Plan on bringing your own basic supplies to each class. Each description will tell you if you need to bring your own fabric or not. If fabric is included, you can still bring your own fabric!
Each project will be labeled based on level of skill:
(B) beginner: You know how to thread your machine and change your bobbin, you are still learning how to sew an even seam allowance on the edge.
(N) novice: beginner plus completing at least 8 different types of projects. Still maybe working on even seam allowance but you have the main idea of project construction. (Can attend B or N classes)
(I) intermediate: Can remember how to sew simple projects like pillows with an even seam allowance. Has the patience for projects that take more than an hour to complete. Is sewing projects at home. (Can attend all classes)

Machine recommendations:
If you have a machine sitting in your closet, let’s definitely try that one before you buy a new one! If you are buying new, do not buy digital, keep the features and stitches as simple as possible, but do not buy “kid” size machines. these are my favorites:
Singer Heavy Duty, $150-$200
Singer 2277 $150 or 3337 $150
About this class:
This is a beginner sewing class for ages 7 and older. This class will explore projects and ideas to grow their knowledge in machine and hand sewing as well as hand embroidery art. If you have a machine at home that you will be using, please bring it to class each week. It’s important to learn on the machine you will be using. IF you do not have a machine to bring, you may pay an extra fee to use a class machine while you decide if you want to purchase a machine. We recommend full size machines for this class. The small “beginner” or “child friendly” machines are two small and not worth the short amount of time these would be used. Your child will learn the proper safety to learn and handle a full size machine and have much more success for a longer time using a bigger and better machine!
BASIC SUPPLIES needed for ALL Sewing Classes:
- GOOD fabric scissors ($12-20)
- extra bobbins that fit your machine (do not buy pre-wound bobbins)
- seam ripper
- tailors chalk or blue disappearing or water-soluble ink marker
- box of sewing clips (100 for a $10 tin box on amazon)
- pin cushion with large long straight pins (only about 10 needed)
You can bring your own machine (encouraged) or pay
$40 each semester to rent class machine (pay in studio)
